The fluid modeling of the face of this portrait is inspired by the work of Augustus St. Gaudens.  The treatment of the base of the bust is inspired by Manzu. The base of the bust is integrated into the tablet of the relief through the unretouched original strokes of clay that have carried through to the bronze casting.
